Slate is the platform WashU uses to manage both undergraduate and graduate admissions.

One site for Slate support

This website provides a one-stop location for all Slate support information, including login portals and training materials. The website is divided into undergraduate and graduate information to quickly direct you to material that’s tailored to the student groups you support.

Slate has two instances or versions: one for undergraduate admissions and one for graduate admissions. Each instance has unique login information, different operation procedures, varying user access, and information may be organized differently. Having two instances allows for unique environments that best suit the needs of undergraduate and graduate programs respectively.

About Graduate Slate

Prior to Slate, the university used seven separate graduate admissions systems and 19 different supporting systems to manage graduate admissions. The implementation of Slate allowed for the necessary consolidation and unification of graduate admissions and related policies.

Slate provides many opportunities for our schools and divisions to improve graduate recruitment, admissions and institutional reporting to meet strategic goals.

Jessie Runiewicz, Graduate Admissions Slate functional lead

With Slate, faculty are able to more easily participate in the admissions process and access the data they need to make timely decisions. It also provides a smoother process for applicants and reduced manual work for staff.

Our previous admissions systems were unable to integrate with current technologies like Workday, necessitating the need for a new, modern system.
